
The Society of Mobility Engineers Australasia is very pleased to present its August webinar on Systems Engineering Principals, Practices and Techniques (PPT) in project delivery and how to use systems engineering as a toolkit to navigate complex and/or project environments.
Whilst all members are welcome to attend, this session specifically focuses on the basic fundamentals of Systems Engineering for student members especially Formula Students as they develop their vehicles for this year’s comp.

Quick definition “What is a system” and what are its main characteristics

Identifying the system in question in its environment

Identifying system boundaries, interfaces, and stakeholders

Overview system of systems, system interactions and potential issues

Including some practical examples
These topics will help to:

identify what is important to know exactly, what can be guessed

identify cornerstones for architectural decisions for the systems

identify which corners can be cut, and which mustn’t
Philip Oefner's automotive OEM background spans hybrid powertrain control, ICE-to-hybrid conversion, and systems integration — including powertrain control for the Porsche 918 Spyder, hybrid conversion demonstrators at Mercedes-AMG, and R&D/systems integration at Bosch on an electric vehicle and its virtual twin.
Residing now in Australia, Philip is the Managing Director of PCO Engineering based in Port Melbourne.
