The Changing Role of Vehicles in the "Safe System Approach'' to Road Safety
SAE-A is very pleased to present this upcoming webinar, led by Traffic Vehicles and Logistics Pty Ltd (TVL), in partnership with Datum Road Safety Pty Ltd (Datum Road Safety), examining the evolving role of vehicles within the Safe System Approach to Road Safety.
Based in Melbourne, TVL is a private company specialising in road crash analysis and prevention, with a focus on holistic investigation methods across all pillars of the Safe System Approach.
Joining TVL in this presentation is Datum Road Safety, a Sydney‑based road safety advisory practice with deep expertise across Safe System implementation, crash investigation, and vehicle–road interaction.
With the rapid growth in mass market adoption of in-vehicle driver assistance technologies, known as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), vehicle capabilities are becoming increasingly complex. These systems represent important stepping stone technologies towards fully automated vehicles.
The session will focus on real‑world on‑road dynamics, including how drivers adapt to new technologies, how vehicle systems influence behaviour, and what this means for the planning, design, operation, and safety management of road infrastructure under continually evolving design standards.
Presented by Johann Tay, Director of TVL and David Beck, Director of Datum Road Safety, both will share their experience with the aim of enhancing safety for everyone, brought about by those working in the road transport technologies space.
